“Naomi Osaka’s Highly Anticipated Return: What to Expect at the Brisbane International”

Naomi Osaka return in Australian open 2024

At the Brisbane International warm-up tournament ahead of the Australian Open, Naomi Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, will make her comeback to tennis.

On Friday, tournament officials confirmed Osaka would compete in the December 31-January 7 event.

Osaka, a two-time Australian and U.S. Open winner, withdrew from last year’s Australian Open after announcing she was pregnant.

“I am really excited about getting back out on court and competing. I always love starting my season in Brisbane and can’t wait to return,” Osaka said in a statement. It “will set me up for a brilliant comeback this summer.”

In July, the former tennis No. 1 announced the birth of her daughter Shai.

Later, Osaka shared a link to the tournament announcement on social media.

Since losing in the first round of the U.S. Open in September 2022, Osaka hasn’t competed on the tour since an event in Tokyo in September 2022.

Osaka will compete in the first major of the year starting Jan. 14 at the Australian Open, officials announced last month.
