The Buzz Around Nick Kyrgios: Will He Make a Comeback at the Australian Open 2024?

Nick Kyrgios in Australian open

Whether you love him or hate him, Nick Kyrgios never fails to raise the roof at the Australian Open.

However, his participation in this year’s tournament is uncertain.

Is Nick Kyrgios going to play the Australian Open in 2024?

In 2024, it is unclear whether Kyrgios will play at Melbourne Park.

Having lost to Wu Yibing in straight sets at the Stuttgart Open in June, the Australian hasn’t played a professional tennis match since.

With his last grand slam tournament match being a quarter-final defeat to Karen Khachanov at the US Open in 2022, he has struggled with wrist and knee injuries this season. As the Australian Open approaches just over two months, Kyrgios must prove he is fit and intends to play.

Craig Tiley is relatively confident he’ll be ready – and eager – to play.

“I personally believe in the communication that he’s motivated to come back and play in January,” Tiley said at the Australian Open launch in October.

“He loves playing here … in front of his crowd. He knows everyone wants him to play.

“The one thing great about Nick, [is] he’s very transparent and very open about what he’s feeling and what he thinks.”

At the Australian Open 2024, will Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis play doubles?

Kyrgios’ chances of participating in the doubles draw are slim, since he is likely to focus on his singles tennis when he returns.

Thanasi Kokkinakis will need to find a new partner for the competition if he does not return to the court promptly and regains his fitness.
